Today I ran a workshop on stage combat and delivering Shakespearean dialogue; two of the hardest disciplines in theatre. Simultaneaously. For 9-12 year olds.
It was pretty hardcore, but ultimately a huge amount of fun. You’ve not heard Shakespeare until you’ve witnessed an angry 11 year old declaim “Thou dost infect mine eyes!” Then throwing a glorious left hook.
If truth be told the throwing of the punches was rather more enthusiastic than the ‘napping’ or reacting to the punch, but they went at it hammer and tongs and we got some really nice little scenes at the end.
